Ranges (western-Panbari; Central- Bansabari; Eastern-Bhuyanpara)
Western-Panbari Forest,Several visits would be needed to see most of the specialities. A permit must be obtained at the Forest Office, which normally should not be a problem, and a Forest Guard will join. The Bansbari Lodge, located at the gate to the Manas National Park overlooks the forest hills of the park on one side, a lush green tea garden on the other. The Lodge has 16 twin-bedded rooms with en suite shower and WC. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Each room has a writing cum dressing table, a sitting area for two and a hanging cupboard. Attached bathrooms have shower, hot and cold water and WC. The Lodge has a lobby, dining room and a library. The lodge has electricity and boasts excellent home cooking including local Assamese cuisine, north Indian, Chinese and continental dishes. The Bansbari Lodge is the only accommodation in the area to offer sufficient accommodation for groups. The Lodge can be best described as simple and comfortable.

Eastern- Bhuyanpara, Influx by militants forced security agencies to launch operations in fringe areas somedays back. In the process Dighari camp of forest department was burnt down during a fierce gun-battle between ultras and security personnel. Extensive damage was also caused to Bhuyanpara camp during another encounter. Picked up from Sonpoirabori and killed at Bhuyanpara. Assam Police and CRPF personnel arrested Mr. Balobhadra Rai from Sonpoiraboi village near Salbari. The eastern and western ranges of the Park, Bhuyanpara and Panbari respectively, are under constant threat from the teeming fringe population trying to make inroads into the Park area. Habitable as well as arable land is a prized commodity among the poor tribal. About 15 sq. km. of land under the Panbari R.F. in the core zone of the Tiger Reserve is under encroachment since 1993. Despite repeated eviction operations, the area was forcibly re-encroached almost immediately.
